The Southern African Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (SAVRALA) has proudly represented South Africa’s vehicle rental, leasing and fleet management industries since the 1970s. As the industry’s trusted voice, we advocate for our members by engaging with government stakeholders to promote fair regulation and legislation. Our efforts include collaboration with public sector agencies, industry associations, and influential business leaders on critical issues related to road transport, taxation and finance.
Our membership includes most of South Africa’s leading rental and leasing companies, with an average fleet of 70 000 active rental vehicles. The Leasing Section represents 350 000 vehicles under management. SAVRALA Members provide a wide range of services, including short-term self-drive rentals, leasing hire and comprehensive fleet management, catering to both corporate clients and individual consumers. Representing the demand side of the automotive industry, our rental section contributes significantly to new vehicle purchases, accounting for approximately 15–20 percent of annual sales. This activity supports nearly 6 000 direct jobs and contributes R7 billion to the South African economy each year. The Leasing section represents a R30 billion investment in vehicle procurement.
Our members recognise the value of working together, not only to remain competitive but also to drive collective growth across the vehicle rental, leasing and fleet management industries. A core objective of SAVRALA is to address industry challenges head-on, fostering long-term sustainability for its members and the sector as a whole.
