SAVRALA is the trade body for companies engaged in the leasing and rental of passenger cars and commercial vehicles.

Founded in the 1970s, SAVRALA represents South Africa’s combined vehicle rental, leasing and fleet management industries. SAVRALA is the representative voice of Southern Africa’s vehicle rental, leasing and fleet management industries. We have a combined membership base of over 38 of South Africa’s top rental and leasing companies representing approximately 600 000 vehicles.

Our members provide short-term self-drive rental, leasing hire and fleet management services to corporate users and consumers. Our members operate a combined fleet of around 600 000 cars, vans and trucks, buying nearly a fifth of all new vehicles sold in South Africa every year. 

Through its member companies, SAVRALA represents the interests of business car drivers and the millions of people who rent a vehicle each year. 

We lobby government to ensure that regulation and legislation affecting its members is fair. SAVRALA also works with public sector agencies, industry associations and key business influencers on key road transport, taxation and finance-related issues.

We continuously strive to protect both our members’ interests, and those of the public, and are therefore widely respected within corporate and government sectors. Our members recognise the benefits of interacting competitively but cohesively for the common good of the industry. One of our key objectives is to persistently address issues pertaining to the industry as a whole in order to ensure the industry’s long-term sustainability.
